James Robson trained in the Nova Scotia College of Art and
Design with additional studies in Europe. James continued at
George Brown College in Toronto graduating with Honours in 1976.

Later that year James was contacted by
the Government of the North West Territories and offered a
position at Ikaluit on Baffin Island working with a group of Inuit
- teaching jewellery skills and directing the production of one of
a kind and multiple set items of jewellery and of small sculpture.
Originally accepting a six month contract, he stayed on for two
and a half years greatly expanding the scope of skill and
undertaking.
James Robson was active on the Board
of Directors of the Ontario Craft Council, a Studio Advisor to the
Craft Studios at Harbourfront and on the executive and as
president of the Metal Arts Guild (National Metalsmiths
Association) for two terms.

Sophisticated design, exceptional craftsmanship and the very best of

Throughout his career, James has exhibited extensively across
Canada and internationally. He has received many awards for his
work and is represented in both public and private collections. In
1992 a neckpiece was awarded the Steele Trophy for Excellence and
subsequently acquired by the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa. It
was the inaugural acquisition for a collection of Contemporary
Canadian Jewellery.
James and his wife Jane, live in Nova Scotia, south of
Halifax on St Margrets Bay, a short distance from Peggy's Cove.
James maintains a working jewellery studio in Nova Scotia, Canada.
